Key options: Ceramic or stainless steel crowns for milk teeth
Sometimes a milk tooth is so badly damaged that your paediatric dentist can no longer treat it with a filling, for example in the case of extensive or deep tooth decay. Restoring molars and front teeth is important for the optimal development of the child’s jaw and speech. To ensure that the milk tooth is still preserved as an important space-maintainer for the permanent tooth that will follow, we fit a paediatric crown: you can choose between stainless steel or ceramic.
We treat milk teeth with particular care. Wherever possible, we try to remove only the part of the dental pulp located within the crown of the tooth. This ensures that the milk tooth remains healthy and stable – until it falls out naturally.
With a dental crown, we can preserve damaged milk teeth!

Children’s crowns made of ceramic or medical-grade stainless steel
Children’s crowns are pre-made silver crowns specially designed to provide the best possible care for milk teeth. Children’s crowns come in a wide range of sizes, which we carefully adjust to fit the milk tooth directly during a single appointment.
Does the health insurance cover the cost of children’s dental crowns?
Conventional crowns for molars are made of medical-grade stainless steel and are usually covered by statutory health insurance.
The more aesthetically pleasing option is white, 100 per cent metal-free and made of zirconia. Statutory health insurance does not cover the cost of this.
