Paediatric anaesthesia at your paediatric dentist’s surgery

Anaesthesia is a sleep-like state which your paediatric dentist can use to suppress the patient’s consciousness and sensitivity to pain for the duration of the treatment.

Some children are particularly afraid of dental treatment, for example, if it involves a major procedure or if they are still very young. A bad experience during previous visits to the dentist – known as ‘dental trauma’ – can also be a reason. In these cases, we recommend treating the child under anaesthesia.

A dedicated operating theatre area with small recovery rooms is available for more extensive procedures!

All good things come in threes

During treatment under anaesthesia, your paediatric dentist, a paediatric anaesthesia nurse and the anaesthetist will be present.

For more than 15 years, we have been working with the anaesthetists from the Anästhesie Gemeinschaft in Bayern AGIB (www.agib.de). Just like us, these anaesthetists have a great deal of experience in working with anxious children. What’s more, they are ISO-certified.

How long will it take for the young patient to wake up from the anaesthetic?

The anaesthesia is precisely tailored to the duration of the dental treatment. For our dental operations, we have our own operating theatre and a recovery room decorated in a child-friendly style at our paediatric dental practice. Here, your child can sleep off the treatment in a cosy little bed.

Parents are welcome to stay with their child until they fall asleep and when they wake up in the recovery room. In the meantime, parents have the opportunity to have a bite to eat. Whilst the child is asleep, the anaesthesia team remains by their side at all times.

Just a few hours after waking up, they can go home with their parents.
