The less sugar, the healthier it is for your child!

A tooth-friendly diet from an early age

A healthy, tooth-friendly diet is usually crucial for your children’s health. It also plays a key role in determining whether or not your little ones develop tooth decay. The best way to protect your children is to ensure they have a healthy (tooth-friendly) diet right from the start!

Watch out for hidden sugar!

Sugar is found in many ready-made foods – and is sometimes hidden, as they don’t actually taste sweet: for example, in ketchup or many ready meals. So always check the list of ingredients before reaching for ready-made foods!

As a general rule, offer your children wholemeal products rather than white flour products, and plenty of grains, vegetables and fruit.

Water quenches your thirst and is gentle on your teeth!

It is best to give your child water to drink. Whether it is mineral water, table water or tap water, it is subject to strict controls and is free from sugar and acid.

In contrast, many other drinks – so-called soft drinks – contain plenty of sugar. This sugar secretly attacks their teeth and causes tooth decay. For example, there is a lot of sugar in fruit juices, fruit juice spritzers, fizzy drinks and sweet-tasting tea. Your children should not drink these drinks too often and, above all, not between meals.

Only serve fruit juice spritzers as an exception, for example during meals. Definitely avoid the following completely: cola and iced tea.
